  • 3 pounds beef roast chuck roast or round roast
  • 30 ounces beef broth
  • 1 ounce French onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 hoagie buns
  • 4 slices provolone cheese

  • Place the beef roast into your crock pot.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the beef broth, French onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Pour the mixture over the beef roast in the crock pot.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
  • Remove the beef from the crock pot and shred it using two forks.
  • Return the shredded beef to the crock pot and stir to combine with the juices.
  • To assemble, place a portion of shredded beef on each hoagie bun.
  • Top with a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Serve warm with a side of the cooking liquid (au jus) for dipping.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can sear the beef roast in a hot pan with a little oil before adding it to the crock pot. This will create a nice crust and deepen the flavor of the meat.
