  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 medium potatoes peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet, then drain any excess fat.
  • In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the crockpot, followed by the beef mixture, and then half of the soup mixture.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and soup mixture.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, or until the potatoes are tender.
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

Serving

  • Serve hot and enjoy this comforting casserole.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a sprinkle of paprika or a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture. You can also add some frozen peas or corn during the last hour of cooking for added vegetables.
